Enterprise Promo with Early Uniform

So several years ago, I remember finding this image which was subsequently used as part of a fanmade Enterprise Wallpaper.

I remember that it intrigued me so much because at the time, Enterprise was the only show I hadn't seen, and from little I knew about it, the uniform looked different from what was shown here.

About a year or so ago, I decided to upload this to the Enterprise Uniform page on Memory Alpha just so it was preserved somewhere that wasn't possibly going to be shut down any time soon. To be honest though, I have no idea about the original source of this image other than it was uploaded on a Spanish forum.

Does anyone know where this came from?

I thought that at first too, but the lighting on that mission patch is too real to be a fake. At the time that I originally saw the photo (I'm guessing around 2006, 2007?) Photoshop wasn't nearly sophisticated enough for someone to pull that off. Now the rest of the image with the Klingon and the phoenix might be photoshopped, but if it's an actual promo then it'd make sense it might be composited like that.

Also, you have to take into consideration that it does seem like it represents the first episode and series premise pretty well if this was done early on and the series was in pre-production. Was Bakula hired early on in the series?

Looks like a normal button shirt, not a uniform, and the patch looks off.

That's certainly the wallpaper I first found, but this was created from that smaller image I first posted.

You're right, there are some differences.

But the patch is still very blurry, like it was upscaled.

Looks like a fan-made photoshop that got around. A bit like Gabe Koerner's reimagined USS Enterprise being used on more articles about the recent Trek movies than you can shake a stick at.

Hmm, I guess I'm a bit disappointed, but it's not entirely unexpected. I really do like that patch even if it is fake. I'll update the MA page so we don't spread further disinformation.
