I edited out the link to the TNG Technical Manual, since it seems to be a .PDF of the entire book and it's a copyrighted tie-in work.

The part about ENT-D starts around halfway. Admittedly it is not written from an in-universe perspective, but it reveals a lot about what certain details were supposed to represent.

thats what i was looking for...
