Still, at the time this episode was done, before they had access to CGI, I presume making the door larger in relation to the rest of the spacedock model, would require changing the model and reshooting. And the whole point of that sequence was to re-use footage from TSFS, just inserting the Enterprise-D, to save a boatload of money.
