If you're going to wank it, might as well wank it hard. Besides, how can anyone sleep without a canon explanation for why Number One left the Enterprise?!
I honestly thought she (Number One) was going to be the one who was going to sacrifice herself to save the 1701 and die to the Torpedo.

That would explain why we never heard of again even during the events of TOS S1 "The Menagerie".

I can't believe that anyone still watches these fucking conspiratorial nutcases. What a waste of time and talk that Youtube channel is.

I watched 30 seconds of Nerdrotic's latest rant just now, and I want someone to find him and commit him for treatment. I don't know if any case of OCD or inflated self-importance has ever been diagnosed as terminal, so a close study of this guy might yield a medical milestone.

Watched "The Naked Time" last night. The Discovery version may be superior when it comes to materials and construction, but the original bridge just seems more intimate and dramatic.

That being said, sometimes standards change. What may have seemed like a realistic size for the type of space cruiser the Enterprise was in TOS back in the 1960s may not seem so much in 2019. Even for 20 years from now, let alone 200. The Discovery version of the Enterprise manages to feel immediately like the Enterprise, while being more detailed and bigger in ways that I feel like the original producers would've appreciated. The bridge set in particular is sympathetic to the original. It feels like what the TOS bridge set that Matt Jefferies designed would actually look like if they were building it today. There are even callbacks to additions made to the bridge in the Animated Series. It's fantastic. :techman:

One of many reasons.
Nope.
ETA: To elaborate
  • Wanting to use modern production values is not a reason for a reboot
  • Wanting to use preexisting characters is not a reason for a reboot
  • Wanting to add to existing continuity is not a reason for a reboot

I'm pretty much in agreement with this guy.....
Agreed. It explains a lot. Discovery clearly isn't part of the 1966-2005 Star Trek canon - that's not to say no one can enjoy it. I just worry the new Picard show will have more in common with Discovery/Kelvin than TNG.

Everything in that video is speculation and opinion, not fact.

Discovery is in the same timeline as TOS, they even used footage from “The Cage” in one episode.

CBS owns most of the rights to all of Star Trek, including the designs, except for a few things scattered across the series.

To be honest I kinda hope they do a new Five year voyage with Kirk and Crew. Make an actual reboot rather than a shoehorned Alternate Reality like the latest movies. It's time now I think. Discovery would be the jump off point. (The Picard show should remain in the original continuity)
I can imagine them doing this, and fans breaking their backs to try and fit nuTOS adventures around the originals, and then totally losing it when they start doing episode remakes.

You do know they actually make money from this nonsense they invent, pandering to angry fanboys who are too stupid to realise that nothing they say pans out?
