When it comes to Diane Carey's Enterprise Broken Bow novel she got in trouble with Enterprise Creators Rick Berman and Brannon Braga when they read the book. And according to rumor she got in hot water with them and never wrote a Star trek novel again. and in a youtube video they mention this incident.
I think the novelisation of "Broken Bow" (written by Diane Carey, who hated the script, and supposedly mocks it throughout the novel) had several extra pages of behind-the-scenes info but it's more about the concept and sets.
It does; over 30 pages of it. There's a little bit about the casting of Bakula and the concept, but otherwise it's just costumes and set design.
Surprised nobody has mentioned The Fifty Year Mission, which has a section dedicated to it.
Although I haven't read it, it's common sense not to shit all over the story you're being paid to adapt. Not to mention, unprofessional.I thought it was Diane Carey's fault to do something stupid like that when she wrote a bunch of snarky commentary in a Enterprise novel she deserved to be fired.
