First thought was fellow Canadian Leslie Nielsen... not eligible.
Second thought was fellow Canadian Jim Carrey... already entered.
So here's fellow Canadian John Candy in Oliver Stone's JFK.


Wow, totally forgot he was in that movie. Good call. That's another vote.
 
How about someone who is known for being funny, but not a comedian, in a film where there is some comedy, but serious scenes (and I'd use a screen grab from a serious scene)? The person is not an actor, but has done a tiny bit of acting.
 
Your teasing post makes me want to see it. If you post it I'll probbly allow it.

It's not included in the clip above except a breifly few seconds, but afterward Teller silently pretends he has a gone and he could have defended himself and that they had no chance.
