ENTER: TV & Media Avatar Contest | "Brilliant but canceled."

DayBreak.jpg

Picked up the two-disc complete series set last week from the five dollar bin at Wal-Mart. It ain't exactly brilliant, but it was entertainin' enough, and, though cancelled, had a distinct end in the final 13th episode.

Other suggestions to get more entries... Highlander: The Raven, The Flash, Crusade, Moonlight, Keen Eddie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith (the Bakula version), and the list goes on.

Just do Firefly. :p

Other shows I'm surprised haven't been used yet... Boomtown, Journeyman, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Tru Calling, maybe Day Break.

I was going to do Boomtown, but I just couldn't find an image I liked. It's ALWAYS the first thing I think of whenever this topic comes up.

This. ^^^ Best one-season show ever (I don't count the couple of season 2 episodes we got with Vanessa L. Williams).

The Prisoner wasn't canceled. Patrick Mcgoohan intended the series to only run seven episodes, it was only the studio who demanded he make a regular series run of episodes.

So It was never meant to be a regular series.

You'll notice most British shows are short run, even the really popular ones. look at the low episode counts of classics like Fawlty Towers or the recent Life on Mars for example.

Well, the Prisoner never was really canceled. McGoohan only wanted to do 7, but they couldn't sell it abroad unless they agreed to do 26. Patrick eventually agreed, but only had stories set up for 17. That's where they stopped funding it. They had a handshake-deal for 26, but Patrick has always claimed he never wanted to do that many.

Semantics, really.

eta: doh! Beat me to it.

It's fairly obvious that Mcgoohan didn't want to do it. It amuses me some of the things he did on the series just because he needed filler. I understand the entire Western themed episode was created because Mcgoohan had always wanted to do a western.

I love the whole series, but Mcgoohan said to his death that only his original seven really counted.
