I always judge an avatar by the composition: colour, cropping, framing, animation and 'impact' -rather than by content- anyway
Otherwise I would find these contests unbearably dull or incomprehensible most of the time (not particularly the ones in this (sub)forum of course!).
Knowing the subject is, of course, part of it. In this case: how the couple look in the avie and how I know them from elsewhere is not entirely unimportant.
ETA: BTW: how did you get such a good picture of my cat in your current av?
