This week's contest is all about the classy women, the grand dames, of television, theater and film. These great ladies are all class acts that convey strength, dignity and, in some cases, are literally "Dames;" they are women awarded British knighthood. So, if you are enthralled by a great lady of the silver screen, who was a true "class act," or you're fond of an actress who actually has "Dame" as a formal title, offer your salute to her here.
For some ideas, a list of some actresses who received British knighthood, go to WIKI. Some examples: Dame Judi Dench, Dame Diana Rigg, Dame Julie Andrews, Dame Angela Lansbury, Dame Helen Mirren, etc. They can be from the past or present, or even just an actress whose reputation garners a great deal of respect. Examples: Audrey Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Katherine Hepburn, Barbara Stanwyck, Meryl Streep, Grace Kelley, Ellen Burstyn, etc.
So let's class up the joint a bit and show there's nothing like a dame!
No SciFi or Fantasy. Standard BBS av size rules apply. Poll will go up Friday.
After watching the finale of Downton Abbey this morning, my heart belongs to Dame Maggie Smith.
