On to the new round: The theme is They Did It First! What I'd like to see are all the things The Original Series did first. Things that became a staple of the later Trek series. For example, the first time a phaser was fired. Or the first time we ever saw a Romulan. Maybe the first time time travel was used in Star Trek. The source for your avatar should be either TOS or TAS. I'm looking forward to what you guys can come up with.

Your entry shouldn't be larger than 140 px x 140 px and/or 70kb and is accepted until 5 days from the date of this post when I will post the voting thread.

You know what, NCC-1701, last Sunday, I chose a similar theme in Voyager: First Time (characters were doing something on Voyager).

The first mind meld, if I am correct, in Dagger of the Mind.
I originally prefer this picture

where Spock looks very much like he's listening to the man's thoughts, but that one

might look better in small size. Although it looks like this time he's talking into his ear. And the hand is less indicative of a mind meld. Interesting picture, though.

Preferences, anyone?

I actually identified with a lot of WALL-E's habits, behaviors and characteristics myself. Maybe that's the beauty of this wonderfully stylised and reduced character – everyone is able to find his/her own personality in him.

Galileo 7... first viewing of the shuttlecraft and launching. HD version had better screen caps than original... but original had fixed view of shuttle launch, so probably could have gotten more animation within 70kb limit.

Gary7, is that a face in the green cloud? It looks like the head of an animal. A giant turtle, or a feline about to eat up the shuttle, according to where you look. Or just a monster.

Good choice, Ria! Although the other shot has a nice angle with the faces of both Spock and Van Gelder, it misses the essential fingers to know it's a mind meld (and not an intimate moment between two men--LOL). This one definitely conveys the feeling of "mind meld." One other choice... you could edit another shot of Spock's hand over his face in the first one.

You have a very strong imagination--it's just a cloud. But I do see your point. I very often recognize faces within chaotic jumbles on floor tiles, ceilings, clouds... I didn't make a point of looking on this one, but I can see some of what you're talking about. This wasn't a friendly cloud, so it suits the moment.
