Thanks for the votes, everyone! This week's challenge is "SF/F Royalty & Nobility" - any character who is a ruler and/or has a traditional title such as King, Queen, Duke, Count, etc.

Characters who are clearly rulers of something, like Ming the Merciless, can get away with "non-traditional titles" or even with not having a title at all, as long as their rule is hereditary, arbitrary, and/or non-democratic. If you're gonna be a funky elected Queen Amidala type "ruler," you better have a traditional title to back that up. :D As per usual for me, I'm sure I'll be liberal in enforcing the rules so as not to discourage creativity.

I'll collect nominations till the weekend looms and then put up the poll. Good luck everyone!

About as non-democratic as they come:

Controls the sun and the moon and has since the beginning of time.

Well, here's the thing, I was initially going with the obvious Princess Leia (of course, always with her blaster ready).

But since she's not actually a ruler, I've got a second choice in case she's disqualified despite her title. The surrogate, of course, could only be the one and true King Arthur in his greatest interpretation.

Leia's okay. A traditional title is enough to qualify for an entry. My entry doesn't actually "rule" anything either. ;)

VOTE! :D

...and I always thought that story needed some kind of follow-up.

I suppose you could make it Liz X, though Liz II is said to have tea and scones with the Doctor from time to time. And there was that business with Liz I. Or go really obscure and do Mrs. Ethel Shroake of 393A High Street, Leytonstone, from 'The Bed-sitting Room'. After the apocalypse, this former charwoman at the palace was the closest relation to the dead queen and became the next monarch of Great Britain.
