Right, this will make all the difference.
Show me the rule that says there can't be avatars from the same franchise - particularly when:
1. Yours is a logo from the movie.
2. Mine is of the two main TV series characters.
These are actually quite different. It's not like I used characters from the movie, is it?

There is no such rule. I wasn't implying there were. I was implying that two Hitchhiker entries would split the Hitchhiker vote, as this happened in previous contests with several entries from the same franchise/film/series.
I also wasn't trying to offend you in any way. I was half-humorously pointing out the fact above about splitting the vote, especially with all those other options still available (off the top of my head, I can think of six films/tv shows that would make for great entries, and given time, I'd propably think of more).
Listen, if you want to enter Hitchhiker so badly, I'm okay with that. I'm even changing my entry (as I said, there are several great options still available), so you can have Hitchhiker all to yourself.
Gonna need some help in picking my new entry, though.

I like your Red Dwarf one, but I'm guessing you'll probably get more votes with Ghostbusters.

I just realized, you can totally tell I wrote the post, googled the images and made them into avatars simultaneously.
^I think Ghostbusters will get more votes, but I think the Red Dwarf one is a better av. Either one would be good.

In a perfect world, others here would totally enter their own Ghostbusters, Dark Star, Paul and Mars Attacks avs, but I still have the RoboCop dilemma in mind.
But really, there should, should, should not be a contest about SciFi comedies without Red Dwarf, so I'm going with that one:
