ENTER! Misc Avatar Contest: Report to the Bridge!

No, wait, not that kind of bridge!

Our theme for this contest is Bridges, in the sense of "a structure spanning and providing passage over a river, chasm, road, or the like" (dictionary.com). Any type or style of bridge is OK, and it can be a bridge designed for any type of traffic (foot, car, rail, etc.). The only restriction is that the image shouldn't be from a media source.

The usual avatar rules are in effect: maximum dimensions are 150 x 150 pixels, and maximum file size is 140 kb.

And just to be clear, other definitions of "bridge"--such as nautical, musical, or pictures of noses ;)--are not eligible for the contest.

I'll leave the contest open for entries for about a week. Have fun!

(And thank you to Timewalker and Locutus of Bored for creating the stickied thread of previous themes! :techman:)

Only one choice here for me:

Hard to find a pic that does Calgary's Peace Bridge justice in this format, I may come back with another version...

The Slauerhoffbrug (Slauerhoff Bridge), a bascule bridge or "flying drawbridge" in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. The use of a single pylon to lift the roadway allows rapid raising and lowering for frequent water traffic without delaying road traffic very long.

Oh! I like bridges; especially covered bridges...some of those are really beautiful. Can't wait to see what everyone picks. Locutus of Bored, that's an unique bridge; never saw one like that before...:)

I hope mine is not "...from a media source..."

I looked up what a media source was, and I still do not know what it means.

If it is, I am open (!) to moving my bridge. I do not want to shake the underpinnings (!) of this Contest.

^You don't know what a "media source" is? :vulcan:

Television, movies, comics, etc. In other words, the av should be a photo of an actual bridge--not something fictional or a scene from a TV show or movie.

ETA: I have yet another avatar of the Golden Gate Bridge to enter, but Photobucket is down. I will post it as soon as it's back up. I love the Golden Gate; I grew up in Marin, so it's like an icon of my childhood.

Wait, let me try another source:

If I can, I'll repeat a recent entry, which was from a photo I took last year - The Brooklyn Bridge (with the Manhattan Bridge behind it) at night:

Gosh, she is a beauty, auntie! Nice entry! :techman:

That is exactly what I thought it was, but when I googled to be sure, I got a bunch of entries that had to do with HTML and JavaScript and Byte Streams. Thank you for the kind words of explanation. You learn something new every day. :)

Great entries so far, all! :techman:

HIjol, sorry I wasn't more clear in the OP. But, yes, what auntiehill said! :)

I'm changing mine to the span over the the gorge the Hoover Dam resides, from the Arizona side:

Here we go:

It may not look wide, but it's a Longfellow.

I actually did not take this one. I've only got about a half dozen pics from that area and none of them show off the bridge very well.
