After much deliberation and consideration in an attempt to think of a topic that didn't fall into the category of TV and Media, it finally hit me. There I was, sitting at my desk, when I looked up at the top shelf of my desk at my wire model of the Eiffel Tower. I then decided on a theme. Landmarks and other famous places. Due to peoples requests for a shorter contest so as to fit more in a month, entry shall be open from now until Late Thursday night/very early Friday morning, and Voting shall be Friday morning until Sunday night.

The awesome Pontsycyllte Aqueduct that crosses the Dee Valley in Wales. Read about it on Wiki

There's a hand-rail on one-side for the tow-path, the other side just has the lip of the canal basin and that's it, which means if you're chugging along in a narrow-boat you can't see the aqueduct, just the valley below :D

With the whole planet to work with, we can't generate more than SEVEN landmark entries?!

With the whole planet to work with, we can't generate more than SEVEN landmark entries?!

Yes we can!

And there's more than just this one planet.

According to Wictionary a landmark can be:

2. a notable building or place with historical, cultural, or geographical significance

and

3. a major or important item, denoting a change of direction or marking a beginning or an end

I have combined images of the oldest footprint ever found, indicating people were walking upright in Kenya 1.5 million years ago and an astronaut footprint in the lunar soil at Tranquillity Base, landing site of Apollo 11 in July 1969.
I find both of these to be places with historical, cultural and geographical significance and I furthermore think that as holes in the ground come, these mark two beginnings for our kind!

I give you:

The Mighty Mackinac Bridge - Five Mile suspension bridge spanning Michgan's Lower Peninsula and Mackinac Island - lovely to look at but a bit unsettling to be on when winds are high!
