Enter Misc. Av Contest: Children's Books

My older son loved the Alfie books by Shirley Hughes. She is especially good at capturing facial expressions.

The greatest adventure of all time.

^^ Also one of my favorite books that I first read in 5th Grade. I specifically remember reading particular books in 5th Grade because that's when we started getting these little newsprint "catalogs" from the school that we could order books from, and those were the first two I got.

Didn't quite make it last night, but here we go: An obscure children's classic that I read (probably a dozen times) in 5th Grade.

The Wonderful Flight To The Mushroom Planet.

Has anybody else ever even heard of it? :rommie:

I read it in second grade. :)
Awesome. Did you ever read the sequels. I just recently found out they existed.

Der satanarchäolügenialkohöllische Wunschpunsch
by Michael Ende

A literal translation of the title (as close as it gets) would be: The Satanarchaeoliegenialcohellic Wish Punch

Edit: Cropped the picture a bit

I like the The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda D. Williams. I don't have a way to link the cover here.

This is the best turnout we've had in a while. I guess we're all just kids at heart. :bolian:

No one thought of 'The Wind in the Willows'? Poor Mr Toad.
I did, but my favourite is the piper at the break of dawn and there's no picture of him.
Missed the deadline as I couldn't make up my mind. I love childrens books and have tons of them - making a choice is like asking a parent which of their children they loved most.
