ENTER! Misc. Av Contest:Candy From Around the World

So, given the saltiness and that it sort of looks like it comes in a condom box, I'm assuming the double entendre of the name is intentional? And if it is, eww.

I am aware of the (chiefly British) alternative use of the word.
It is however also the name of a Danish candy, introduced in 1971, and -as you noticed- it comes in a box that would easily fit a couple of condoms -but that's just the shape of a pastil-box.

That MM-candy, isn't that what we call "Smarties" in Europe???
What we call Smarties in Canada and around the world is different to what it is in the US. I don`t know about the slogan for the smarties elsewhere, but here it was Don`t forget to eat the red ones last, and they aren`t at all the same as M&M`s. The Smarties the U.S gets, we call Rockets.
I haven't really been paying attention to what happens within the great world of sugar-covered milk-chocolate-pastils over the past three or four decades, but the thing I remember loving as a kid was this cardboard tube of multi-coloured Smarties....

But then, I remember a candy-bar called "Raider"...

I used to have a friend who would bring me back tubes of those Smarties from Scotland whenever she went to visit her parents. They are very much like M&Ms, but not the same. The shell has a bit of flavoring to it that M&Ms don't have. Kind of minty, I think, but it's been a long time so I don't exactly remember.

And made with milk chocolate. And Unlike M&Ms, they do melt in your hands. Heh, the tubes never really caught on here, I don`t think, as they`re mostly still sold in boxes.

this is something typically German, I believe. It's a fruit slice: dried and finely minced fruit and nuts between two paper-thin wavers. Basically a juicy trail mix version. Looks like something you put on a road surface, but it's yummy! This one is apricot-maracuja-almond - couldn't resist to take a bite...*blush*

Why am I unfamiliar with this?!

Wrong part of the country, I guess. This one was bought at Norma which afaik has no shops in Northern Germany. Aldi-Nord should have something similar, though. As do most drugstores and bio-markets.
Want me to send some? :)

I deliberately didn't choose a Muesli-Riegel as Muesli is something the Swiss invented. But apart from the lack of cereals this is pretty much the same, just a bit softer (and more calories due to the fruit sugar).

^^ RJD, if you like I can snail-mail a roll of Smarties to you so that you can check if they still taste like they did 20 years ago :)

Ah, well, not the wrong part of the country (I live in the Breisgau region, near Freiburg), but there's no Norma market near my home or my place of work. But there are some in Freiburg, so thanks for the offer, but I'll be able to get them myself. ;)

You don't have to do that. If you do, you have to tell me something that I can send you in return. You've sent me too much stuff already. :)
