(The Day of the Vipers really, truly left me with an "appreciation" of just how sick and scheming the mind of Gul Skrain Dukat really was. The way he plotted the destruction of the Oralians, and the things he did...by the end of the book, I was in tears at the horror of it.)

Is that Vivien Leigh? () Where is the pic from? AFAIK she only played the role in theatre?

It's her, yes. I'm not quite sure where the image is from originally, but I think it's some Royal Shakespeare Company promotional pic. I found it on Google images, it's been used in several places. I'm pretty sure you're right that she only played the role on stage.

No to that. The shot is from 2001: A Space Odyseey. Bowman and Pool (I'm not sure which one it is) are in a pod talking about (scheming) how to deal with HAL 9000, their computer that runs every aspect of the ship. They made sure the computer couldn't hear them.

Unbeknowest to them, HAL is watching them --- this shot is from HAL's perspective (and noticed the close-up of the lips), and he was watching their lips move, and he knows exactly what they are planning as a result despite the precautions they took to keep HAL from hearing them.

So, both the astronaut pictured and the computer from which the shot was taken are doing the scheming.
