ENTER! Doctor Who Av Contest! "Then I Was Hooked!"

Thanks to CmndrSela318 for the idea.This week's theme is "Then I Was Hooked," the moment when you became a true fan, addicted to Doctor Who, the moment when you decided you had to keep watching. For me, it was seeing Tom Baker and Sarah Jane in "Robot." It wasn't the best episode ever, but their chemistry and the idea of the Tardis just wowed my middle-school mind.

A picture from the episode that made a Doctor Who fan out of you. For me, that would be a picture from "The Bells Of Saint John".

This is just a few seconds after the exact moment in "The Bells Of Saint John" that helped make me a fan. I wouldn't have become a fan at all except in October and November of last year Comcast's On Demand channel XFINITY ON DEMAND was showing every 10-15 minutes the clip where the Doctor says "I'm the Doctor, I'm an alien from outer space, I'm a thousand years old, I've got 2 hearts and I can't fly a plane." It got me curious, so, I Googled which episode that "I'm the Doctor, I'm an alien from outer space, I'm a thousand years old, I've got 2 hearts and I can't fly a plane." came from, watched the episode and "PRESTO CHANGE-O" I was hooked.

the TV Movie. i watched this when it originally aired on Fox. i was fascinated and a little confused...but i wanted more.

"Rose" was my first episode, and it really was a perfect introduction. What immediately hooked me was the show starting with unapologetic absurdity when mannequins came to life and chased the two protagonists. It's not what made DW my favorite show, but it is what hooked me.

I loved this, too. But as a long-time James Herriot fan, I have to correct you; it's Tristan Farnon.

That's easy.... "Talons of Weng-Chiang", my first full serial. Leela in Victorian England, time-travelling future war criminal, android midget assassin with a pig brain, the Giant Rat of Sumatra, Baker in uber-droll mode... Sold!

I'd dabbled a little bit before with "Spearhead from Space" & "The Robots of Death." But what hooked me on the show was the bantering when Tom Baker first met Mary Tamm in "The Ribos Operation."
