ENT marathon on SciFi

I was looking ahead to see what Friday marathons SciFi was going to be showing.

Nov. 23-24
8 a.m. Cogenitor
9 a.m. The Xindi
10 a.m. Twilight
11 a.m. Azati Prime
12 p.m. Borderland
01 p.m. Cold Station 12
02 p.m. The Augments
03 p.m. The Forge
04 p.m. Awakening
05 p.m. Kir’Shara
06 p.m. Affliction
07 p.m. Divergence
08 p.m. IaMD I
09 p.m. IaMD II with BSG minisodes
10 p.m. Babel
11 p.m. United
12 a.m. The Aenar

They picked really good episodes. I would have preferred Similitude and Damage over Affliction/Divergence.

Except for Cogenitor, seasons 1 and 2 get a pretty good snubbing. Too bad because there were plenty of really good episodes to choose from: The Andorian Incident; Shadows of P'Jem, Shuttlepod One, Two Days and Two Nights, Shockwave, Silent Enemy; Minefield/Dead Stop; Singularity; The Expanse.

Oh well. At least the show is getting a marathon!

Too bad SciFi hasn't gotten off their collective asses and put out their channel in HighDef. I've seen several Enterpise episodes on UniversalHD and they were absolutely stunning. I'd love to catch a bunch of these episodes, but on "standard" broadcast SciFi, I'll pass... Just doesn't do the program justice...

^ I agree. I did read that SciFi HD will launch prior to the start of Season 4 of BSG though, so that's something I guess.

Azati Prime without Damage? That's sure going to confuse people, going straight from there to the Augments arc.

If you could pick 17 episodes from across the series, which would you go with and remember continuity, the flow from each episode without skipping anything essential.

That is a great question! Wish I'd thought of it.

1. The Andorian Incident
2. Shadows of P'Jem
3. Silent Enemy
4. Shuttlepod One

5. Minefield
6. Dead Stop
7. Singularity
8. Cogenitor

9. Azati Prime
10. Damage
11. The Council
12. Countdown
13. Zero Hour

14. Home
15. Observer Effect
16. IaMD I (or Demons)
17: IaMD II (or Terra Prime)

^ Great selection! Fans always do a better job than TV schedulers. I'll give this some thought and come up with a "cutdown" mini-series list.

That's cool. They're not even going to interject X-Files and SG-1 in their usueal timeslots. Not that I have anything against X-Files or SG-1, but to run a halfway decent marthon is great.

Yay ENT marathon! About time (agreed with above, the ep choice could have been better tho)

They do have SciFi-HD. It's carried on DirecTV. I don't know if they show ENT is HD, as HDNet may have exclusive rights to that. But they do show Atlantis, Flash Gordon and some other shows in HD.

^ Sorry, no DirecTV in my home, just TimeWarner cable. They don't carry but a handful of HD channels. Sci-fi HD is not one of them so I didn't even know it existed until you mentioned it. TimeWarner carries UNIHD which I believe is UniversalHD from NBC/Universal. I've seen several Enterprise episodes and a good chunk of nuBSG season 3 in HighDef on that channel.

Okay then. Having thought about this... the schedule I'd have chosen for Sci Fi's marathon would be:

08.00 Broken Bow
10.00 The Andorian Incident
11.00 Cease Fire
12.00 The Expanse
13.00 Proving Ground
14.00 Azati Prime
15.00 Damage
16.00 Home
17.00 The Forge
18.00 Awakening
19.00 Kir'Shara
20.00 Babel One
21.00 United
22.00 The Aenar
23.00 Demons
00.00 Terra Prime

If I could cheat and add another episode, it would probably be Cold Front because as the line-up stands, Daniels appears in Azata Prime and a first time viewer wouldn't have any idea who he is. But then that's a cardinal rule of storytelling the show was guilty of time and again.

Yeah, I know... where's the Mirror Universe?, what no Similitude or Twilight? They're my favourites too, but I thought it best to stick to the main themes of Enterprise... Andorians and Vulcans, a dash of TCW, the turning point of the Xindi arc and some Federation building.

That's a good way to go. Unfortunately, if you actually were a television programmer you would have been lobotomized long ago and never come up with this.

My proof lobotomies are done on these guys: Scheduling ENT Mondays 7-11 p.m. rather than 7 p.m. Monday through Friday (thus avoiding being put up against prime time hits (can you say HEROES?).

From your first list, Jinx, they picked some of the best in my mind.
I don't dispute they picked good episodes. But I would like to have seen them pick some from each season.

Affliction/Divergence was an OK episode, but I think there were others that were far more compelling.

And to run Azati Prime without Damage makes absolutely no sense at all.

SCIFI HD is up and running (it started about 2 weeks ago). Problem is: While they are running i 1080i - they only have a few things in actual HD - Flash Gordon; Stargate: Atlantis - on one of their weekend 'schlok' B movies.

They are showing ENT in 480i letterbox format still; and just transmitting the feed in 1080i; which sucks. One hopes Sci-Fi will get their heads out of their asses and get HD versions of ENT, Dr. Who, etc soon; but that probably costs extra cash, and they figure they'll just phase in actual HD programming as they produce new programs, or repeat the NBC sci-fi/fantasy based shows.

Like many people here, I thought when Sci-Fi went HD; we'd GET all the programming in actual HD that was available.

This sucks because HDNet is only showing one new ENT episode a week; so it'll be February before they hget to Season 4; and I do want to see that seaso in HD.

It's more than likely that SCI FI isn't allowed to broadcast the shows in HD, since CBS Paramount sold the syndication rights for the HD broadcast to HDNet.

Doh! - I didn't realize the possibility that CBS gave exclusive HD sydication broadcast rights to HDNet; but that would make sense.

It is very annoying though that even with the explosion of HD channels available via DirecTV now (finally); a lot of those HD channels are still just showing 480i letterbox upconversions of stuff that was done in true HD; or (and the Discovery Science HD channel has been doing this a lot) just streaching stuff horizontally as opposed to properly stretching a 480i letterboxed show both horizontally and vertically to fill the screen. :brickwall:
