Enough of these stupid conspiracy shows!

Decoded. I haven't watched one episode, but I get tired of hearing it just from the commercials.
I hope this show doesn't get a another season.
Secret socities. hidden government factions.
Just the same old BS. That they give no real evidence of.
The stone in Georgia was built by some conspiracy crazy nut just like Brad.
What is the appeal to these shows, they are not made for intellectuals.
I had hopes when Jesse Ventura didn't get another season, then this crap came on.
I know shows like this are becoming famous because next year is 2012, but seriously, most of America is easlily guided, they don't need this stuff.
Am I alone in this thinking?

Nope, not alone, but the fact that shows like that keep getting made means the studios think we're in the minority.

Anyone who assumes that they should be typical of the target audience for a TV show should realise that they have automatically ruled themselves out by thinking in such terms.

I'm not talking about Jersey Shore, I am talking about a show that puts thought into peoples mind, that aren't true, that there is no evidence of, and that can put fake fear into someone.
Things like Jersey shore are just as stupid and dangerous, but not in the same ways.

actually the episode about Meriwether Lewis and the one about John Wilkes Booth were pretty interesting. when they start talking about cults, Freemasons, 2012 and plots to take over the world is where i start to tune out.

^Let's not forget the bilderberg group.

I agree. Shows asking if we have the real story of the deaths of JWB, Billy the Kid, Jessie James, or if those three guys who escaped Alcatraz made it to shore... I don't mind those so much. Fun little pieces. And the truth is, there very well could be one or two of those old outlaws who didn't die according to the official story.

The point everyone misses is that the "officials" would be unlikely to lie, since if the "dead guy" turned back up, their asses would be in the fire. Of course, Billy the Kid had reason to stay hidden, so you could argue that from both sides. I know that I, for one, wouldn't risk everything on the idea that an outlaw will be a good little boy for the next 50 years. I doubt many "officials" at those respective times would have, either.

But yeah, the moon landing, alien coverups, secret societies and the like are at best merely irresponsible, and worst positively dangerous.

Right. I understand that.
But how does the shows title fit its plot.
How is any of that in code?

I always hate the dramatic slow way he talks, its really unneccessary.

Oh, FoxNews??

Good point. but(and I can't believe I am saying this)
CNN and every major news station is guilty of the same thing.
I mean they always bring in someone to say that the economy is looking up, brings a little hope, then go right back by saying that it will not be better anytime soon.
Its like, just lie to us, it won't hurt.

I'll be first in line to pick on FoxNews, but it's not just the big national baddies, it's the locals, too.

I hate it when I'm watching a 9:00 program and the 10:00 news teaser comes on and you hear the lady say, "Is the city letting sexual predators move next door to your child's school? The frightening truth at 10:00!"

It's BS like that drives me crazy.

^It's called PBS, and it is my favorite station. I watch more PBS than everything else combined.

I'm up for a good conspiracy (I'm a sci fi fan, I don't care if it's real or plausible or even sane) but Decoded is so damn draaaged out and tedious, forget it! I don't care about the people who are doing their bullshit "investigations" - just get on with it!

I watched the 'Decoded' about the secret elitist 'camp' in California. They never mentioned the guy who crashed the party and took the video there is a major 9/11 'truther'.

I think I need to watch more of the opposite: shows that discuss history and turns of events, not "engineered inevitabilities". How events are linked because of causality, not because of a master plan.

I'd love to see some "Decoded" type shows that do a good job of debunking some of the crap... Not least because that's the best way to make sure that if they then find a reasonable conspiracy their assessment will be more believable

I assume you've seen all 3 series of "Connections" and "The Day the Universe Changed"?

I've seen the latter, but not "Connections."

They're by James Burke as well. And they are EXACTLY what you're looking for. The original "Connections" series is the by far the best, if you ask me, but they're all good. And you can watch the the whole thing on the Youtubes.
