Enjoyed the film until.....(spoilers)

I enjoyed the film until the Enterprise leaves orbit to try and save Vulcan. The film was good until then. After that, starting with the lack of on screen defense of Vulcan the film went down hill.....REALLY FAST.

You know, the fact that there were absolutely no starbases, no patrol ships, no merchant vessels, not a single soul in the orbit of either Vulcan nor Earth did indeed jar me a teeny weeny tiny little bit.
