Nah, they don't need to be updated. Just tweeked a little here and there. This suggests that Earth actually created the Borg, which of course is possible, with their race name sounding Swedish and all.

So, at the beginning of Kirk's time, the transporter looked like swirling sperm. By TMP time, it looked like one of those giant penis pump cylinders. Hmmm, go figure.

I think I've seen a few like that around -- Trek-themed skins and ringtones for iPhone and Blackberry, that sort of thing? There was another for Trek-type covers for phones, etc.
