"Enemy Starfleet!" Release Date: Thursday, October 21st, 2010

GSchnitzer

Co-Executive Producer
In Memoriam
In case folks are interested, we've set an online release date for our follow-up episode to "Blood and Fire."

We've announced a release date for the complete episode "Enemy: Starfleet!" of Thursday, October 21st, 2010. (We haven't nailed down yet a specific time on that day when we'll get the files uploaded and available.)

In the meantime, the opening teaser and the first portion of Act I have been available for some time now. So if you're interested in viewing (or re-viewing) this first portion of "Enemy: Starfleet!" you can find it here:

It may have been mentioned elsewhere and I've just missed it, but has there been a release yet of "Blood and Fire, Part II" with the final audio mix?

To make a long story short, the final audio mix for "Blood and Fire, Part 2" is available on YouTube and has been for months. I don't think it's available anywhere else yet, though. All other delivery methods besides YouTube still have the old TEMP audio mix for the last couple of Acts. (It's a long story why they aren't more widely distributed yet.)

(Any Phase II IT guys, please jump in and correct me as needed.)

Yes, this was released May 1, 2010. There have been some download issues. Here's a thread discussing it at the Phase II forums: http://forums.startreknewvoyages.com/index.php?topic=10707.0 . There are still some minor problems, and the always wonderful Trek fans who run the Phase II German Mirror are hoping to have that worked out by the end of September.

Look, what they do is amazingly wonderful, but they can only do so much so fast.

To anyone who would like to see more Phase II faster, I strongly encourage you to donate money to them!

Here's a discussion of their current appeal: http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/Donate.html

And this is for those of you who would like to donate without using paypal: http://forums.startreknewvoyages.com/index.php?topic=4808.msg68286#msg68286

I never questioned that this would be a time consuming activity ... I only asked because I haven't really bothered checking to see if there's been any other downloads released, and because last I knew, there were plans to release the final audio mix version at some point. Thanks for the link though ... I'll definitely go read that thread. I guess my main question -- before I go and read the thread would simply be: Are there plans to release Blood and Fire, Part 2 with the final sound mix via other distribution methods, or will it be relegated to YouTube only?

Yes, the final sound on "Blood and Fire, Part 2" will be released via all the same ol' methods we usually do--not just via YouTube. We're trying to get that up and loaded everywhere before we get "Enemy: Starfleet!" released.

I remember my one attempt to upload an audio show to our website. It didn't go well. I can only imagine the complexity of trying to get a video show uploaded... *shudder*

Glad to hear some news about this. I was starting to wonder if this episode would get released. :bolian:

I've noticed in the preview vids of both Enemy: Starfleet and Origins the Big E still looked like her original self and not the Phase II version that I heard would happen. Is this plan still going on or was it shelved?

Well, never say never--but I think we've pretty much shelved the idea.

We got a bee in our bonnet and thought it would be a swell idea and had Daren Dochterman do some work on it. But not long after we decided to do it, JJ Abrams' movie came out and people missed their old beloved Enterprise. So at a time where Star Trek was being given a new look, we reconsided our thinking and then pretty much decided to not change the look of our ship. It's still the same ol' Enterprise on the outside--unless and until we change our minds again; we've done it before.

I was fortunate to see a "rough cut" of "Enemy Starfleet" at the Shore Leave convention in July. They're continuing work on the SFX, but even so, the episode shows that the Phase II folks understand Kirk far better than the current movie-makers. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll watch this before they start on Star Trek XII.!

Here's the thing... JJAbrams loved Luke Skywalker and hated Kirk. Phase II loves Kirk.

Being that the J.J. Abrams film has, critical interpretations and opinions aside, re-energized the fan-base and the audience pool for new Star Trek media and product, I think it's a bit short-sighted to be so dismissive and, dare I say it, insulting to the after-effect the film's release has created, even if you're just offering up a circuitous compliment to the New Voyages crowd.

I don't know yet if I'll be at Hollywood XPO but if I make it, I'll be sure to swing by and see the cut of Enemy: Starfleet while I'm there.
