The Earth itself is going to be taken out by the sun when it expands.

Humans on the other hand will be extinct for a very long time by that point. Either by something we did or evolving into giant salamander puppets if Star Trek: Voyager is to be believed.

I thought Annorax erased Earth from history before Janeway got into meddling with his affairs?

On a second though, I don't think I exist to be able to think anything. Carry on.

That happened to my brother once. I can't miss him.

I'm surprised more people aren't going for nuclear war/accident. Can we honestly just go on for centuries and centuries having these weapons all around us without ever using them deliberately or accidentally

Did I hear something about "Goodie Bags" for participating?...

The goodie bag contains a Geiger counter, some cyanide pills and Sartre's "being and nothingness"

"End of the World" and a human extinction event are two different things. Out of all your options, only the Sun option has any relevance to the planet's destruction. As to the end of man, it will be his ignorance, not his intelligence, that's kills him.

Thanks for taking part. Don't forget to pick up your...."i'm a fun person who doesn't take things too seriously"....goody bag on the way out

Maybe I should have voted for alien invasion then.

Right now, nuclear armageddon, while possible, doesn't seem likely right now.

I think that Yellowstone erupting is inevitable, and will probably kill most of us here, especially in the U.S., as the ash suffocates most of us, and our crops, though as a race, we should recover.

My biggest fear is a genetically modified bioweapon getting out and causing a pandemic. A natural pandemic would kill most of us, but enough should be immune or otherwise survive to rebuild.

Otherwise, the world will probably end when the sun expands, though by then, we'll be long gone, one way or another.

Asteroids and Meteors are the wild cards, and there is no telling what they'd do if we aren't able to do anything about them.

I think there is enough hints that extraterrestrials have been visiting our planet for a long time, and if they wanted to invade, they would have done so by now, and there wouldn't be much we could do to stop them, whether it be enslavement or wiping us out wholesale.

Now that's a narrow view of "we"! :p I don't view my future robot descendants as inferior "us" than the human schmucks complaining that the stupid robots are too slow at doing their five minute full body reconstruction after they ate a chainsaw.

End of the world? Death of the Sun.

End of humanity? AI. I have no doubt of that.

Well, at some point in time, a huge asteroid will hit the Earth and probably kill us all unless we divert it. And there is absolutely a 100% certainty that asteroid will come our way someday.

"Survival Kit contents check. In them you will find: one 45 caliber automatic, two boxes of ammunition, four days concentrated emergency rations, one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills, one miniature combination Rooshan phrase book and Bible, one hundred dollars in rubles, one hundred dollars in gold, nine packs of chewing gum, one issue of prophylactics, three lipsticks, three pair of nylon stockings — shoot, a fellah could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff..."
—Major Kong, DR. STRANGELOVE

Climate change probably will cause wars over declining resources that escalate into nuclear wars. I voted for climate change as the root cause.

I can't help thinking about the asteroid, though. I've watched so many science programs where a dinosaur gets blown away by the blast wave that now I imagine the poor dinosaur thinking, "Oh, no, not again!"

Then I imagine some far-future Earth civilization evolved from squids or something, and how they have science programs that show sad-looking human figures getting blown away by asteroid blast waves.
