Emmys nominations

Temis the Vorta

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Okay, this past season hasn't been the most exciting ever, but I'm surprised there isn't already a thread for this.

Nominations here.

Curb Your Enthusiasm and Archer are funnier than any of the comedy nominees. At least they're funny enough to get me to watch them.

Outstanding Drama Series: Much as I love Dexter, S5 was weak. The Walking Dead should have lurched into that slot.

Nice to see Dinklage's nomination and I don't even watch Game of Thrones (I'll see it on DVD). I believe all the praise he's gotten sight unseen. Ditto for Timothy Olyphant. I'll start catching up w/Justified soon. Michelle Forbes in The Killing certainly deserves a nomination, but where's Katey Sagal for Sons of Anarchy? That show deserves more Emmy love than it's ever gotten.

I'm sure Mildred Pierce will dominate the ever-weak miniseries category.

Rooting for Futurama in the animated category, although this season really hasn't been its best.

For nonfiction special, Gettysburg was surprisingly good. Didn't think there was much new they could get out of that topic.

No Community nomination? Lame. At least Game of Thrones is getting some recognition, but, then again, being on HBO, that was sort of guaranteed.

Idris Elba as John Luther - Luther • BBC America

If he doesn't win this, it will be a CRIME, I tells ya!

Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens - Justified • FX Networks

LOVE to see "Justified" getting some recognition, but Timothy doesn't have a chance in HELL of winning. It will go to Hamm of "Mad Men" or Laurie from "House" (again). I would like to see Michael C. Hall win for "Dexter", since I not only love the show, but think his character is probably the hardest to pull off successfully. IMHO.

I'm very disappointed with the Emmy Nominations. No Community, no Burn Notice, no Leverage, no White Collar. No reason to watch this year. Pretty much all the Drama categories should go to The Good Wife.

The Award for Lame Nominations goes to.... the Emmy Awards!

Who cares? We all know that Mad Men is going to take Drama yet again even though it doesn't deserve it. No point in watching. :rommie:

...but where's Katey Sagal for Sons of Anarchy? That show deserves more Emmy love than it's ever gotten.

That's the biggest piss-off for me this year. Kathy Bates for Harry's Law got nominated over her? Please. I thought after the Golden Globe win earlier this year Sagal might FINALLY break through. Sigh.

No love for Mad Men? I've spent the past 3-4 months watching the entire series for the first time, and other than Breaking Bad, I can't think of a better drama on television right now. And Breaking Bad isn't eligible for this year's Emmy Awards.

[...] where's Katey Sagal for Sons of Anarchy? That show deserves more Emmy love than it's ever gotten.
You should read some of Kurt Sutter's tweets regarding the Emmys in general, and the lack of recognition for Sons of Anarchy in particular. Guy is as funny on Twitter as he (and his writing staff, of course) are smart on screen.

I have no idea why Mariska Hargitay keeps getting nominated. Do they not watch the tapes of Anna Torv in Fringe that they're sent?

If they were going to nominate someone from Glee in the supporting actress category, Naya Rivera would have been a much better choice than Jane Lynch, who's great but who had nothing good to do on the show last year.

This had better finally be Jon Hamm's year, with Bryan Cranston out of the way (love him, but three Emmys in a row is a bit much; they really need to learn to spread the wealth more).

Friday Night Lights got four nominations! YAY!

They won't win a single award, but still...

The lists of comedy nominations tells me I don't fiind anything on tv funny.

Also, why does reality tv have three categories now?!?

Wow, HBO & the other premium channels dominate that drama category.....

Which means I haven't seen those nominees. I watch Dexter a season behind on DVD. Might watch a couple of the others I've heard good things about...but like with Dexter, it will be on DVD.

No love four Community, but Modern Family snags 4 nominations in the Supporting Actor category alone? Ugh, that's so lazy.

And the universally panned Oscars Show hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway? 10 nominations.

Meh.

Bean was robbed! But I am biased of course.

Interestingly enough, there's a lot of talk about his and other genre shows getting snubbed. Though it is really no surprise as sf, fantasy, and horror always get miffed in the big categories.

Also, I thought some would find this amusing. A complete reel of all of Sean Bean's death scenes!

Spoilers of course for those who don't follow all of his films like us fanaticals do. :)

The fact that "Community" has been snubbed again is no surprised. Season One should have nabbed some kind of nominations. Joel McHale deserves a best acting nomination even on his bad days on the show (which are minimal). Donald Glover and Danny Prudi also should be receiving Best Supporting Actor nods. I assume that "Community" gets snubbed because no one watches it due to NBC's continued poor marketing of the show. "Modern Family" is funny and all but it doesn't deserve NBC's total attention.

Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens - Justified • FX Networks

No way. If Olyphant doesn't get it's got to be Buscemi! Anything else would be plain robbery.

Awards shows are a joke. It'll be nice for Dinklage if he wins, or if Game of Thrones pulls a Return of the King and takes best drama.

It's a shame Boredwalk Empire got nominated for anything. Pretty good pilot, then week after week of pure tedium.

I guess there's enough of a gap in Breaking Bad that they don't qualify for any Emmys this year? Oh well, it's back in a couple of days and chances are it'll be much better than any of the shit that wins.

I think you mean ABC. Modern Family is on ABC.

And the lack of love for both Community and Fringe in the guises of Anna Torv, John Noble, Donald Glover, & Danny Pudi are just freaking wrong.

Agreed and :techman: and :( and :scream: on both points. This year was a stellar final season from a stellar show. Chandler, Britton, Gilford, etc. will still never get the awards they deserve, but now the show as a whole will at least get mentioned during the ceremony, and to more people than ever watched the damn thing! Go buy the DVDs, Emmy watchers!

I really like Olyphant, Justified is pretty good, but I can't help feeling the part is a little too lightweight for him.
