Emma Thompson slams film icon Audrey Hepburn

I don't feel it's correct to bad mouth ones peers just because you're career has been more successful, especilly since it was actresses like Hepburn to openned doors for those like Thompson. I find that to be a snob.
She didnt like Hepburn's performance as Eliza. I'm sure she's not alone in that. At what point did she claim it was her greater "success" that allows her to do so? Or that she is more "successfull" than Hepburn. As a fellow actor and as a member of the audience she has every right to express her opinions of another actor's performance or skill.

Exactly what doors did Hepburn open for anyone? What barriers did she break down? Was there a bias against European actresses from formerly Nazi occupied countries in the 50s?

For heaven's sake, the woman is making a new version of the same film, of course she is going to have an opinion on how people have approached it in the past and how successful they were.

It's not like she just randomly decided to insult Audrey Hepburn, she didn't bad mouth her because she is more successful, she voiced an opinion because it's highly relevant to her plans on how to approach the movie.

What a fuss, honestly.

Are you mad? This is the internet, we have to have strongly held opinions and argue our point of view to the death or there'll be nothing else to do. Get with the programme you rational and reasonable bastard!

.....and I didn't like Thompson's view point.
What people usually do in those situations is state that they don't agree with someone's opinion and give their own view... rather than express outrage that the person has dared to express an opinion they disagree with, followed by criticism of the person's career that is completely unrelated to the topic.

And you still haven't explained what barriers Hepburn broke and how she "opened the door" for Thompson. There were always plenty of white European actresses playing leads in Hollywood...

I love you guys. In a thread full of exaggeration and misconception we can still keep our cool and focus on the pedantry and iconic film quotations.
