Emissary NOT on the Captain's Collection

Do you think that Emissary should have been picked to go on instead of WYLB? Why or why not

As great as Emissary was, it was more about introducing the entire cast and series premise, rather focusing on the Sisko. Far Beyond the Stars, Pale Moonlight and the finale are solid choices...Though it is odd that WYLB made.

The Captain's Collection I got a long time ago contained Obsession, Family, The Adversary, and Caretaker.

This is revisionism. "Emissary" is much more about Sisko than WYLB. WYLB is weak IMO in part because it doesn't spend enough time on Sisko.

And there are far better eps with Sisko as captain and focus of an episode than WYLB: Rapture. For the Cause. For the Uniform. Call to Arms. Rocks and Shoals (perhaps coulnd't be used becuase its one part of a six or seven part epic).

I'm also assuming "The Visitor" is out of the question because it has been used before in the special DVDs.

Nope, The Visitor was the most glaring omission from the time travel set. But the visitor is much more about Jake Sisko then it is about Ben Sisko.

WHY???

I own every season of every Trek ever put on the tube. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to buy them this way.

I don't get buying these collections at all.

Yeah, and The Best of Both Worlds is far more about Riker than Picard. And yet somehow its mostly mentioned as a Picard episode. The Visitor, right or wrong, is often counted as a Benjamin Sisko episode. And come to think of it if In the Pale Moonlight can be considered by many as a Garak episode (along with being a Sisko episode) even though Garak's screentime and involvement falls second to Sisko, then Sisko can get the same benefit for The Visitor.

Regardless....I think The Visitor still does far more with Ben Sisko than WYLB. And that's my main point.

The only sets I've brought are DS9's. So most of these eps will be the first time I've had them on DVD. Besides...its the extra bonus features that most interest me.
