^Same, though unlike EF1 I don't think I ever completed this one. Not sure I even got half way though. It's been quite a while but if memory serves it got a bit boring after the initial few levels.

I like the improved graphics. I don't understand why this one never got as popular as EF1 for online play.

Yeah, the fact you are running about with a quake like shotgun did not help the games overal feel. Lol

I enjoyed EF2, although it never quite reached the same heights as the original game for me. You could definitely tell Raven didn't make the second game.

I don't understand why people say EF1 is better than EF2. To me, EF2 had a better story, more interesting gameplay, and a much better final boss.

EF1 was fun because it felt like a Star Trek game. IIRC EF2 felt like a slightly better looking generic action shooter with a Star Trek skin. Making up a new enemy just for the game was actually counter-productive since most of the novelty was in fighting Borg and other such familiar baddies.

Like I said though, it's been ages so my memory is very fuzzy and I really don't have much of an intelligent opinion. All I know is abck when it came out, it didn't hold my interest for very long, while I really enjoyed the first one.

EF2 certainly is an interesting artifact in terms of setting/release date (sort of connecting the ending of VOY and the aftermath of NEM).

I get that, but the first one also had a new enemy. I do prefer the Voyager setting of the first game and the fact that it has the whole cast as opposed the the second game where it just has Picard and Barclay, but overall I preferred the second one.

I really liked EF2, a worthy sequel to the original. As I recall (and my memory is hazy, please correct the details), it was hard to get hold of due to a lawsuit between Activision and Paramount? Basically that Paramount tanked the Trek franchise with Nemesis and ENT, and thus Activision's expensive Star Trek license wasn't getting the returns they were expecting.

I know there was a lawsuit for those reasons. I hadn't heard that it made the game hard to get. This is probably part of the reason there hasn't been a really high quality Trek game since.

Yes I have a copy of this game on windows xp. Both Elite force and 2, run on windows 7.

I also created a mod with somebody's help a year or two back, it was based off the episode Equinox. No actual characters, or aliens, but a what if, if the crew had survived, and continued onwards. It was merely a battle scene using somebody else's map which was similar to the Equinox ship.

As for Elite force, I did mod the bridge deck, of the expansion pack, how ever on inreinstall there were a few problems, like the orientation of the one of the characters on the bridge. I still have these files.

Problem is, in order to use the bridge file I think it required a extractor, not sure if that would work on windows 7. I don't think I could install the expansion pack on 7, now that I think back, but this was last year. I'd have to see if the pak program would run.

It's kind of weird that nobody ever made a Dominion War FPS. Seems like a perfect setting for such a game.

I never did play EF2, but I liked EF1 well enough.

Played both and enjoyed them both. The second was certainly prettier, but I generally prefered the first one.

I played both of them, and I actually liked the second one better.

I actually thought the second one had more of a overall Trek universe feel to it. We got stuff missions at Starfleet Academy, on a new Starfleet ship, we fought Borg, Romulans, Klingons, Andorians, and dealt with a Ferengi. I thought the story of 2 was also better, the whole thing with the ship graveyard in 1 was a nice way to bring in Klingons and the MU, but overall I though the story for 2 was more interesting, and gave us more interesting guest characters.

I also liked the fact that there were some dialog options. In fact, you had the romance options where you choose between the Human officer and the alien archaeologist, it's Mass Effect 1!

This thread has inspired me to re-play Elite Force 2 (since I'm much hazier on that game compared to the OG Elite Force), time to find myself a copy.

Too bad it's not available digitally.

I played part 2 very massive. The multiplayer was the best. It really was one the best games ever

I never got into the story in EF2 - Elite Force felt conceivably like a Voyager two-parter and benefitted from the full voice cast and the downtime wondering around on the ship.

I also liked that you could choose the gender of Alex Munroe. I always played as a female, so when EF2 removed that option it felt like I was playing a totally different character. I don't know why they did that. Probably to save on recording the dialogue twice.

EF2 had much better graphics but lost a bit of the soul. Having a traditional end of level boss was a bit of a step back too.
