ELEMENTARY - News, Reviews, and Discussion

I do hope they have the courage to avoid just hitting the reset button with Gregson and Marcus. Have Sherlock & Joan start again with new police allies, or even with a more adversarial relationship with the new police characters. A show that's run this long could stand some shaking up.

Although I really like Gregson and Marcus, I think I'd prefer if they weren't part of the new season. I'm ready for them to move on to something new. I know this will never happen, as it would be too expensive, but it would be awesome if they traveled to different countries, solving crimes around the world.

I agree with you. Unfortunately, Rob Doherty does not: “Sherlock, Joan, Gregson and Bell form this very non-traditional family unit, and as the seventh season begins, there’s going to be a 'family’ crisis.' Events will transpire that will force them to put smaller problems behind them and really come together again as that unit." The band's getting back together, so to speak.

I'd like a globetrotting Elementary, especially if it's in service of hunting down Moriarty.

Which would be episode 9 of season 7. And clearly Aidan Quinn and Jon Michael Hill are still part of the core cast, so I guess they will be somehow contriving a reset to the status quo. Not surprising, but I hope they come up with something vaguely plausible.

Marcus was planning to become a U.S. Marshal. I'm not very familiar with the organization, but here is part of the wikipedia description:

The Marshals Service is the primary agency for fugitive operations, the protection of officers of the Federal Judiciary, the management of criminal assets, the operation of the United States Federal Witness Protection Program and the Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation System, and execution of federal arrest warrants.

I wonder if Marcus could be assigned as Sherlock's "handler" (a term usually applied to members of the CIA with human assets) under a special arrangement with the U.S. government.

I'm sad about this too. But, it had a good run. They thought they were done before and got a reprieve. Hopefully they will be able to finish up properly without any lingering threads.

I refuse to refer to this decision as a cancellation, sad though I am to see the series - which for me is THE modern Sherlock Holmes - come to an end.
