El-Aurians? Guinan's dad?

Commander Keiran MacDuff

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
This is my formal request that at some point an El-Aurian (specifically Guinan's father, who is referenced in Time's Arrow) makes some kind of appearance in Discovery.

Why?

No reason I guess. It would just be cool.

Carry on.

Exactly. He can guest star in an episode or something. It could even be easier to insert him into the series than Guinan's dad.

I admit I'd like to see the Farragut disaster "live". Perhaps the Discovery arrives to help the survivors?

Prime material for the "Guess the contradictions and canon violations" thread!

It's pretty difficult to fit the "Obsession" facts into a working whole. We don't know whether Kirk was aboard the ship or planetside, whether Garrovick died on orbit or standing next to Kirk on the surface, whether the ship herself survived the attack when half her crew did not, or what the ship looked like - but there are many, many ways to get it wrong.

It would still be awesome to see a DIS interpretation of the events! Perhaps with hints as to why Starfleet didn't think there would be anything to be done about the killer cloud, and no reason to make it a matter of common knowledge for starship skippers and other top officers.

Ah, so we just never heard Guinan's then?

Might be there's cultural-geographical variety in the naming practices. Martus and Soran were white guys, Guinan was not.

OTOH, Martus was known by his first name, Soran by his second. More cultural variety there? Or just a case of any El-Aurian insisting on first-name basis when on the famous Listener mode, which Soran alone skipped?

Ah, so we just never heard Guinan's then? But we still won't know who this guy is related to unless they name-drop.

Back before DS9 aired, there was a rumor that Guinan's son would make an appearance, and that he'd be in DS9's brig. Since that's what eventually happens to Martus....well, hey, it could be. ;)

Guinan has been noted saying that she's had a few kids, it would be pretty awesome if one of them ended up on Discovery.

^ The writers were going to actually have Martus be Guinan's son, but Whoopi Goldberg wasn't available for that episode so they dropped all references to her.

As for Guinan herself, we don't know if it's her first or last name, or indeed *any* of her names (as Q pointed out in "Q Who").
