EJO on Babylon 5

Speaking of credits, has anyone checked the episode's end credits? Probably if the actor in question had no lines he wouldn't be there, but you never know; it could say "Bartender - Edward James Olmos". But I doubt it. ;)

And the situation is further muddied by the fact that the credits on the DVDs aren't the actual credits that were shown with the episode originally. This causes issues with Delenn's new appearance being shown too early in season two and an early recording of the voice-overs in season five being used. Most shows only use one opening and closing sequence but B5 would change theirs whenever they felt it was called for because they did it in-house.

Interestingly the Delenn mistake in Season 2 was corrected for the R2 release; however at the same time they missed some of the other credit tweaks, like the previously mentioned 'Deconstruction of Falling Stars' and also the Psi-corps enhanced credits for 'The Corps is Mother, The Corps is Father'.

And let's not mention the screwup they did on 'The Fall of Centauri Prime' :)

This doesn't pertain to the EJO thing, but I don't wanna start a whole new thread just for a quick question, so...

Does anyone here know the name of the actress who played Dr. Franklin's assistant on the show? She looked like she was of Indian heritage, but IDK for sure. I'm trying to find her listed on the credits somewhere, but I can't seem to.

I think you mean Dr. Lilian Hobbes who took over Medlab when Franklin left? Her name is Jennifer Balgobin.

^ I assume you mean Dr. Hobbs? She was played by Jennifer Balgobin.

[Edit] This is what happens if you don't refresh your page before you reply kids!

Dr. Hobbes? Didn't she work with a Dr. Calvin?

S. Gomez, if he had no lines then i don't think they are under obligation to list his name in the credits.

Babylon 5 always struck me as odd as they always gave character 'names' for minor speaking parts - like 'Med Tech #1'. You expect it in the end credits but not at the start.

Possibly a bargaining tool? "No, we can't pay you X dollars but we'll give you creidit in the opening titles..."

Furthermore, important characters weren't given actual names, but are fully credited anyway. For example Vaughn Armstrong as "Security Guard #1" or Macaulay Bruton as "Garibaldi's Aide". ;) Turhan Bey was also simply credited as "Centauri Emperor" and only received a name retrospectively several episodes later.

Same with Malachi Throne as the "Centuari Prime Minister." Though it would've been silly, given the names they ended up with.

Guest starring
Turhan Bey as "Turhan"
Malachi Throne as "Malachi"

Actually unless I'm mistaken I think it's SAG rules at work again. As I understand it, anyone who has a speaking role even if it's just a line or even a scream (see Chrysalis) then they have to get a credit. I think it's the same rules that says extras can't have intelligible dialogue or else they'd not be extras anymore have would have to be bumped up to a bit-player's pay-grade.

Nope - that would never happen. When somebody receives a credit it is for a speaking role. Further when they receive a credit they will get paid whenever that ep is re-run. As you can imagine, the production company wants AS FEW PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE to get paid. So whether they are EJO or whether they are Barack Obama, they will ONLY get a credit if they actually spoke.

As a side note, I used to HATE B5's crediting people at the beginning with titles such as, "Large Man #2" and so on.

It always used to feel so D grade and lame to me.

Edited to add: WOW - it seems other people didn't like it either!

Funny because it ALWAYS stuck out to me as stupid and weird.

I don't think it's SAG rules. Everyone got a credit, it's just that in another show it would just say "Vaughn Armstrong" but in Babylon 5 it would always say "Vaughn Armstrong as Security Guard #1" - they'd do this for virtually every character.

^Yes, I believe that's why I said I doubted it would be listed there.

I have started to just post answers, without reading through a thread.

I have noticed for years this is what everybody else does anyway, so I thought I'd chime in too.

I WILL NOT, however, start using the grammatically incorrect term "I could care less", drop all the "u"s from my words or date illogically "MM/DD/YY". I still have SOME scruples.

:D

Sorry to tell ya but it's "AluminIUM" here in Australia!

"A-Loo-min-um" always sounded like something that came from the moon(Luna), when I heard it on a Yank show.

But God, DO NOT get me started on fannies and rooting for your team! That will get you arrested here in Oz!!!

;)

P.S. A "fanny" in Aus/NZ/UK is a female front bottom(Hence why I refer to your inappropriately named "fanny packs" as "vagina vestibules")and here anyway, "rooting" is having sex.

So whether they are EJO or whether they are Barack Obama, they will ONLY get a credit if they actually spoke.

And conversely, if you're not a member of SAG, you are not allowed to speak at all. They had the balls, the pure nads, to tell that to the King of Jordan...

(well he wasn't king at the time, but he was crown prince...
