Egg Nog

Tiberius Jim

Thought/Opinions? For some reason I feel like I shouldn't like it simply because I tend to not like things with such a thick consistency but something about it just makes me feel good. it's definitely got something to do with only drinking it during the holidays, and the good feelings associated with this time of year. I have yet to try it with any spirits added although the kind I just bought is a Southern Comfort Spiced Vanilla brand that even has a recipe for adding some SoCo to it.

Anyway, it seems like a it'd be one of those "love it or hate it" beverages that could garner varied opinions.

A good rum, some vanilla, a couple of eggs, and some milk with a few spices for taste make a fine drink.

I just did a homemade version for an early Christmas with some friends. I've found that it gets better if you don't drink it immediately.

I've never even tried it, because the thought of it sort of makes me ill. I think it's just the idea of a drink with eggs in it. Maybe I'm just not very adventurous. ^_^ But I'm also not fond of milk products, so that might be it, too.

I drink the nog straight up.

Dean's made an Extra Rich version, which was great, but was discontinued several years ago.

Oberweiss egg nog is almost as good. Drinking some right now.

I haven't had real egg not in twenty years. Actually maybe it wasn't the real thing even then, maybe it just felt like the real thing because I was younger and stupider!

I feel so deprived now :(

Deprived or depraved, Aussies and Kiwis lack so many vowels.

The many inflections of sound, music and sin. I recall Captain Cook's memoirs on the depravity of the south seas.
