Edward James Olmos Joins Dexter

Starbreaker

Sweeeeeet. He will join Colin Hanks and Mos Def (ugh) as a major guest star next season playing a professor of religious studies.

Okay. I might have to start finally watching this show now...looks like I will be borrowing "Dexter" DVD's from the library to catch up. :)

I still gotta watch Season 5, but with its lukewarm critical appraisal, I just can't get motivated. The fact that Season 6 might actually be pretty good is just the push I need.

This fucking awesome news love james love dexter great combo. can't wait till october till the next season. has any one read the books of this series?

I've read the first three. I've got the fourth sitting on my shelf. Working up the energy to tackle that one too.

There are times you stumble out of bed, check a line of text, and groggily wonder if you're still dreaming.

This is one of those lines.

Seriously, all I need now is Michael Hogan in, I don't know, Mad Men?

Frakking awesome news. I still need to watch season 4 and 5. Might have to see if I can get them from the library.

Yes, and the Dexter of the novel series is a distinctly different person - he's more arch and seems more in control, and is less conflicted than TV Dexter.

I get the sense that there's just one literal level to Novel Dexter, but TV Dexter has two levels, one of which is unknown to him. When Novel Dexter says "I don't love anyone," I believe him. When TV Dexter says or voice-overs that, I know he's lying.

It's like reading the same basic story with a somewhat different main character. Overall, I think the TV version is a better take on the material.

I should start a "send an actor to a show" thread - you can nominate any actor and any show. :D

^ I said it before, and I'll say it again: Hogan would be absolute pure comedy genius in a reboot of Police Squad!. I can so totally see him as Frank Drebin...

"There'd been a recent wave of gorgeous Number Six models found naked and unconscious in laundromats on the west side. Unfortunately I was assigned to investigate holdups of credit unions. I was across town doing laundry when I got the call..."

He's back in Miami, so he has to have a mustache. Maybe ha can replace Captain Matthews? Or Maria? No?
