Edosian vs. Triexian?

That's a bit surprising, but I'm happy with the idea that the writers don't think in terms of "all felinoids must be Caitians" when TOS clearly didn't think in terms of "all humanlike species must be humans".

The late Janet Kagan admits in "Voyages of Imagination" that she wasn't an avid ST fan, but her friends were, and she did a lot of cramming to prepare herself for writing her manuscript.

It made sense (to me) that if McCoy was searching databases for clues about felinoids' medical histories, then it made sense to reference M'Ress. Not many books apart, AC Crispin had referenced the presence of Arex. But Janet didn't know TAS well enough to realise a link could be made.
