I never saw the Robocop remake, because you just can't do better than Verhoeven! Some classics weren't meant to be remade. The Total Recall one was pretty lame, I agree. "Get yuh ass to Mars!" made the original.
The Robocop remake was actually all right, because it was different from the original. It told its own story, and it had heart. Verhoeven's version was brutal satire, with little scope for humanity.
The Total Recall remake was a dumpster fire. It walked right in the footsteps of the original, making it painfully predictable, and instead of reducing the violence to PG-13 levels, it gave us a high body count with highly sanitized fights (in the opening encounter, Arnold kills 4 guys with near-Mortal Kombat levels of brutality, while the new guy takes out 10... but it's the kind of stuff you see on classic Trek).
