Eccleston joins Big Finish (no, really)

Now that is a shame, but not unexpected after what he said at that convention about the top 3 being fired before he would come back to Who, real shame.

A shame, but when RTD came back I expected it to be only a matter of time. If he had stayed around a bit longer I bet we would have eventually had an 8th and 9th crossover. Damn damn damn.

But to see things from the positive side... to think we had him back at all is wonderful. Any addition of Chris as the 9th Doctor is a very fortunate thing. And you know what, I bet he will be back.
Here's what he said.

"The Big Finish experience has, to date, been enjoyable and has afforded me the chance to revisit a character I was able to bring to life almost twenty years ago. For now, it is time for me to return to the TARDIS and disappear for a while, but as we know, the world of the Doctor is unpredictable, so this is not a goodbye but an au revoir!"

Still haven't the chance (time and money) to listen to the already released Eccleston audios but this is fantastic news.

Wow. So delighted for this. I'm slowly making my way though the 9th Doctor adventures. This will be brilliant.

I like the trailer referencing the original "Trip of a Lifetime" trailer for the revival.

This truly fantastic news. Pun and everything!

Also, this should shut up all those "Eccleston won't work for DW now that RTD's back in charge of the program".

They're really pretty solid. Top notch at their best. And the River set is brilliant.

Some of the Eccleston stories so far are BF by numbers, plotwise, but Eccleston is generally a joy to listen to even when the stories aren't that great on their own. I haven't listened yet to Billie Piper's Rose Tyler audios, so I don't know how well she takes to the medium, but heck, I'm looking forward to hearing them together again.
