Early 25th Century Starfleet Uniforms and Ranks

Here are my early 25th century uniforms. They're inspired by everyone's favourite space pajamas, TMP uniforms! I wanted to eliminate the black and make the uniforms look less militaristic. The template used is originally from Star Trek Magazine.

Two piece uniform:


Jumpsuit:

There are variants with and without pockets.

The rank pips go on the collar in usual TNG style.

The pips are just very generic and looks like they could easily be confused.

Yeah, a half size one vs. the blacked out ones we got on TNG. Though, in certain lighting, the blacked out ones looked like gold ones.

Maybe if the black part was smaller and matte compared to a shiny gold part, then those would have been easier to see,

BillJ and Ar-Pharazon make a good point. If you consider a Lt. Cmdr. to be a mid-step between a Sr. Lt. and a Cmdr., There needs to be a better differentiating mid-step "semi-pip" for that rank. I also think the junior enlisted need their own insignia style, distinct from the senior NCOs. Interesting uniform style, BTW.

I like the uniforms. I just hope someday Starfleet will move beyond "the shoulders."

I kinda fail to see what's everyone's issue with the pips. A lot of real militaries use rank insignia composed of wider and narrower bars.

No pips. Rank insignia on shoulders and the cuff.

And...this is radical...what about a name tag? Like an actual military uniform.
