I like all eras of Trek, but I like to get a diversity and TOS is focused too heavily in the line. Of course, a good book is a good book whenever it's set.
Movie era is a little more exciting, in part because it's so rare. Also, that means maybe Saavik will be in the book.

No Saavik, I'm afraid. It's set shortly after the fifth movie, so Saavik was gone by that point--and Sulu had not yet moved onto the Excelsior.

Basically, I wanted to write the original crew, just a bit older and wiser.

Hopefully those two TOS books aren't just more 5YM books, but as there weren't any this year (except one? Greg Cox right?), they probably both are. When was the last time Dave Galanter wrote a trek book? Was it those TNG books with Greg Brodeur from 2001-ish?

Galanter wrote 2009's TOS: Troublesome Minds.

Sooo... what is Takedown a placeholder name for? My interest is piqued.

According to another thread here, Takedown is the Aventine centred novel that's been discussed previously (it's being labeled TNG presumably for marketing reasons).

Was JJM's titan ebook any good?

It was lighter in tone than most Titan stories and set after the events of the Fall. I thought it was a quick, fun read with a flashback set during the TNG TV series. Having not read any of the Fall novels, my enjoyment was unimpaired even with no knowledge of what happened previously to these characters.

I thought Una McCormack's DS9 novel The Missing was due in Jan. I already pre-ordered it, maybe it was December for that one.

The Missing officially comes out for eBooks on December 30. So for whatever reason publishers do it, it is labeled as a January release in a lot of places.

I'm interesting in that. The new crew spin off series have usually been really good, and I like Dax.

I worry sometimes that the Trek novels will die out, so I'm always pleased to see new ones coming out. I have no idea how secure the line is.

Would any of the authors who post here be able to make any comments as to whether the Star Trek book line is in any danger of reduced output?

I'm not deeply in the loop, but I haven't heard any intimations to that effect. If anything, the output seems to be increasing, since we now have the e-novella line supplementing the print-novel line. Plus we've got occasional coffee-table books like Federation: The First 150 Years and The Klingon Art of War from other publishers/imprints.

I have no idea why anybody would think that. At least six Trek novels have hit the New York Times bestseller list this year alone, and Pocket is already signing up books for 2016.

If anything, the books seem to be selling better than they have in years. (Did I mention the bestseller lists?)

Me, too. I've enjoyed most of the eNovellas that I've read and the price ($1.99-$2.99-$3.99) is fair, also in most cases. I'm glad S&S is dipping their toes into the eBook market again. Maybe 2015 will bring increased output on this front (one a month?) or perhaps a dedicated series (SCE or something new -- Aventine?).

Either way, eighteen new Treklit stories a year is pretty satisfying.

And I just read the synopsis for Uncertain Logic on the Trek collective site.I very looking forward to getting this book next year! And Una McCormacks ds9 book I can't wait to see what happens on ds9 after the falls series. It will be interesting to see Una doing a book having the story taking place on the space station and see how the story unfolds in the book.

I believe it is labeled TNG, but takes place on DS9.

I think it's got the DS9 label, since it's set on DS9. While I realize it's not the most consistently updated, the Upcoming Productions page of Memory Alpha is currently listing The Missing as a DS9 novel.
