Ear Rings

Not being terribly au fait with piercing lingo, I initially got a mental image of a 4G-capable cellphone being embedded in the piercing.

Probably will be reality this time next year.
You can bet the Japanese are working on it.

I heard on the news today that Sony intend diversifying more into mobile & medical realms. Perfect opportunity to combine the two! :)

I've got my ears pierced five times, both lobes and my left cartilage. I don't wear my lobe earrings unless it's a special occasion, but I always have the one in my cartilage. Right now, it's a 4G and I plan on making it bigger.

This idea makes me think of the TV show Fringe.

I have my tongue, navel, and ears pierced. None of them hurt, and clearly I like the way they look. I've always been turned off by tattoos, but something about getting a barbell shoved through your tongue is entertaining to me. I plan on getting my lip pierced soon.

I don't understand ear rings.

I don't understand why people willingly accept puncture wounds.

I don't understand why my grandmothers and people of their era (and before) used pressure clasp ear rings that hurt them on a daily basis.

What compelled me to make this thread was that I was watching a show with intelligent people who I respect, talking about contemporary issues which deserved to considered, yet they have these silly weird jangly things which keep drawing my eye.

It just made me think about how absurd it was that social convention forced these women into wearing these completely unnecessary accoutrements.

Damn boy what's your problem?
First high heels now earrings????
What happened? Did some woman wearing pierced hoop earrings and high heel stiletto shoes break your heart?
Btw, I seldom wear earrings because they hurt my lobes if I wear them too long. I was eight when I first got my ears pierced.
And no woman is force to wear anything. You really don't know women.

I had one of my earlobes pierced back when I had just turned 18... wore a ring for almost six years before I got tired of it - mind, this was back in the day when there was only one Star Trek series...

Well, the original post seemed to go beyond mere earrings so it didn't seem off-limits. Not like I posted pics!

I don't think much of tattoos either unless they're very classy indeed.

I agree completely. That's why I got a lower back tattoo of the Yeats' poem Peace with a flight of doves beneath it looking like they were taking wing from the crack of my ass. You know, classy.

:guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

OP is a strange, frustrated person to say the least. Earrings are cool, and as long as you don't overdo them, creative piercings are cool too.

The only thing I have to admit having something against are ear gauges and the stretched out void they leave in your lobes. :ack: Can't see why so many people want to do that, but whatever.

That was exactly my reaction.

The G represents the gauge which is how they size earrings (body jewelry). So, basically; the smaller the number the bigger the jewelry.
