E3

though if you are going to claim you are marketing towards the hardcore, you'd best provide the hardcore with something they'd want to know (system specs)

I'm a hardcore gamer and I couldn't care less about the specs. I care about the games. Hardcore gamer != tech geek.

fair enough, but there is probably quite a bit of overlap between the hardcore gamer crowd and tech geek crowd.

i'm certainly not a tech geek. it's the gameplay that matters.

but as a gamer, there are things i want to know. mainly, online plans and storage space. i dont care about system or video RAM or how many cores or how many USB ports a system has. they dont impact me that much. i assume it'll be comparable to the ps3 and 360 since Nintendo's shown they can make a decently powered system in the past.

what they havent proven (to me) is that they have any idea how to handle online or how to manage disk space. and as a gamer, those are important features. those are the things i want unveiled.

This is Nintendo we're talking about, so I'd assume poor to abysmal on online service and storage space. I wouldn't be shocked if the thing came with a floppy drive.

Nintendo you realise if your going to join the 21st century of gaming you need a flipping HDD, all the DLC alone ? + Games you get from online service assuming you create an online service not powered by a Hamster & a wheel

It's not like their strategy hurt them last time around. The thing is, spending lots for a prestigious "awesome" system makes sense, but it means you'll be competing more closely with others and spending more at the same time.

That being said, this system seems to cut profit margins right off the bat by making such a damn expensive controller.

overall, i'm a bit shocked at the amount of backlash nintendo is getting for the console. i expected some backlash, but i'd figure love for nintendo nostalgia would blind most people.

Nah, the Wii killed Nintendo's nostalgia and now the Wii U (The worst name system ever created) gets no love from the fanboys.

All the Wii U is is what the Wii should have been 5 years ago, but now with a crazier controller.

If Nintendo was smart they would create a kick-ass system with awesome online game play...I call it...NES Online! :p

Wii? Wii U??? :sigh:

Super Wii/SWii makes way more sense than Wii U??? :wtf: Major fail by Nintendo. :p

They can just call it what the rest of us are calling it... Lame. ;)

I still think the Wii should have been called the "V" or "Vii" or iVi" or anything with a V in it. Microsoft called the Xbox 360 because they were afraid stupid people would think the name Xbox 2 would be a weaker system than the PS3. So Nintendo could have called the Wii Vii and remind people that V is 5 in roman numerals.

after watching e3 I want to get an x box 360 for the kinetic games. they look fraggin awesome. all so have they solved the red ring of death issue?

They're just fucking with you. People thought that they couldn't think up a worse name than "Wii" when they first heard it back in 2006 or whatever, so Nintendo is trying to prove them wrong. Doesn't matter to them so long as tens of millions want to get their Mario on.
