E.R. Finale Tonight

Mina-Na had a pretty poor exit for her character. She was caring for her ailing father, which was affecting her work, and she got fed up with the hospital and quit. End of story.

I don't remember how Sherry Stringfield was written off the second time around. I think she just vanished.

I really enjoyed the finale as well. I loved the use of the original opening titles sequence & theme. And it was great seeing Sherry Stringfield as Susan Lewis again. Always liked her. Alexis Bledel was cool too. And as others have mentioned, Ernest Borgnine was brilliant. I'm gonna miss the show, but it went out well, I thought.

^ I recall reading that she wanted to take time off.

Yes, I guess that's possible. I mean, five years on any show is actually a long time. Just doesn't seem that way on ER where some people stayed for 9, 10, 12 seasons even. Ming-Na for example appeared in exactly 90 episodes of ER. If you've seen them all, you have seen that character more times than you've seen any of the characters on Lost. More times than we have ever seen the original Star Trek cast, series and movies combined, etc etc...

Sorry for necropost but it just aired here a few days ago and I just saw the recording.

Very good finale, had some nice stuff in it and overall fitting end to the series. Loved having all the old characters back and especially liked seeing Rachel all grown up. Nice touch with seeing a wide shot of the Hospital at the end, have we ever seen that before?

Ultimately I'm happy with it, but it's going to be strange not seeing new ER episodes anymore. The shows been a bit part of my TV watching life and now it's gone.

However, as much as I liked the finale, it didn't punch me in the gut quite as much as the Special Retrospective episode did. I was bawling at the end of that.
