E.R. Finale Tonight

I'm surprised to see no thread on this yet...I have to admit that I stopped watching the show about three years ago, when John Carter left after marrying Thandie Newton's character. Been watching on an off since then but for the first six and a half seasons I watched faithfully every Thursday night and for the first three seasons this was one of the few shows I used to watch with my parents. I'm looking forward to seeing the send off just to see some of the old characters. Anyone else checking it out tonight?

The DVR is set, for the retrospective and the two hour finale.

The Clooney episode from a few weeks ago was the first time I'd watched a full episode of ER in years.

I'll be there. Well, I'm gonna time-shift and tape it (as well as the hour retrospective) later on. I've been a loyal viewer since the first episode, so it should be a nice emotional time. :)

Very, very cool bringing back the opening credits. Excellent touch. Man, im crying already. :(

I'm trying to work-up care but I'm not finding it. I briefly considered recording this but then it dawned on me that there's really no characters left on it I care about or even know.

This series died for me when they made Dr. Green a killer and my interest was already wavering as far back as when they gave Green a friggin' brain tumor.

And making the helicopter that cut off Ramoray's arm then FALL ON HIM AND KILL HIM and then have no one care after it happened? Ugh.

Goodbye ER. You were awesome once but then... you sort of stopped being awesome and just became a lame night-time soap opera.

Stupid ER for interrupting the momentum of 30 Rock. :scream:

Seriously though, I've never watched an episode, so enjoy it. They really did keep silent on the whole Clooney returning episode though.

My feelings exactly. When it became "Everyone Loves Neela", I left. But Romano getting killed by the helicopter, that was the real show killer. I honestly don't care about the finale.

An interesting note.

ER is one of five shows that premiered in the 90s that is still on the air. After tonight Law and Order: Original Recipe (1990), SVU (1999), King of the Hill (1997), and Family Guy (1999) will be all that's left.

What about The Simpsons?

(Yes, yes, the "pilot" aired in December of 1989, but it was mostly a one-off and the show didn't enter regular run until January of 1990.)

Well done! Nice homage to previous shows, but it was all, basically...business as usual.
As it should be.

The ep with Clooney went through the..."Who's still there...all the new guys..." exchange. And that was carried on in tonight's ep.

Lovely tributes and great hope for the future, even if we never see it.

That ending was horrible. The hospital should have been attacked by aliens, I think that is the only storyline that never happened on ER.

Banfield- A bio medical lab has exploded resulting in flesh eating zombies

Morris cocks shotguy

Gates- I hear there's some "critters"

Morris- Yeah!

Great finale. Just a normal day at County General. Morris being woken up like Greene in the premiere was a nice touch.

Great series but the last show didn't have that ER feeling for me. It was filled with too much throw back material and not enough of a continuing story. i remember when John left, when Peter left, and when Mark left handing off to the next person to "set the tone" - I didn't get that feeling. It was just sad to see it ending but it really ended a couple years ago for me and more so when Pratt died.

Very enjoyable finale! It got me misty-eyed several times including the very beginning and end. The hour long retrospective was also a great addition. I received the first season of ER on DVD for Christmas in my first year of med school and had already started watching new episodes regularly in about season 10. Now with up to season 10 on DVD, I have literally experienced the entireity of ER through my medical education. This has been one of my all time favourite shows and seeing it off tonight was a real emotional treat.
