E-Book Pricing Alerts

They have started doing monthly sales again, so that might be what you saw.

The official monthly sale as has been noted here before of course, is for the $1.99 Trek Enovels as shown on this page (for those who might not know of this): http://www.startrekbooks.com/c/ebookpromoaugust2017?intcmp=ihp_bb&cp_date=istb_bb_08012017_stebpr , but there are a bunch of other Trek novels where the Ebooks are now available at a reduced price (seems like mostly in the USA though), including some from 2015 or 2016, plus a few older titles, for $3.99 (which were yes $4.99 last week, so who knows what changes even tomorrow might bring), and some, a mix of older and newer novels, for $4.99, or even $2.99 / $1.99. It almost seems though, if one is interested, the only way to really keep track of the newest price reductions is to look online practically every day. There are periodically even some full-length Trek novels or other books for 99 cents, which is great, if a little cumbersome to keep up with.

@Alwaystrekkin if you find any good deals, would you mind sharing them? That's the main reason I set up this thread, to share any noteworthy mark downs we find. I typically just post anything $5.99 or under

These are just the results I got when I looked up Star Trek in Google Play, and I also looked up Star Trek The Original Series for a minute or two so there might be a couple from that search too. I'm stopping there for now, tomorrow I'll go through the results for each individual series.
It's also worth noting that on Google Play I do not get prices for books I already own. I own quite on few through them, so there's a pretty good chance there are some mark down prices I'm not seeing.

Well Force and Motion is $3.99 on Amazon USA. And the Voyager anthology Distant Shores is now 99 cents! (Kindle for Amzn. but also on BN. com yesterday.) Like I said, not always easy to keep up with lol. And NF Blindman's Bluff is also 99 cents, for now. And Titan Sight Unseen is $3.99 which I bought, yay.

Damn, I just bought Sight Unseen for the full price a couple weeks ago.

Wow, that is one hell of a price difference. I think Warpath had been one of the expensive ones here in the US before the mark down.

Yeah, it's pretty frustrating. I've been re-reading a number of series, re-buying them for my Kindle as I go (my eyes aren't cut out for paperbacks anymore), but now I'm at the point in the DS9 relaunch where the third Worlds of DS9 and Warpath are super expensive. I want to get back into Vanguard, and that series is pretty much entirely priced the same.

Well, the e-book for Warpath is US$0.99 right now.

Annoying, isn't it?

If I wanted to, I could go onto Amazon US, and order a physical copy of a book, and have it shipped here. So why can't I order an e-book from the US?

English language publishing rights have been a mess for a century. Offshoot of the daft splintering of patents too...see antibiotics and painkillers. For literary stuff there's no finer example than the American pirating of Lord of the Rings.

I am surprised these kinds of markdowns aren't happening in other countries sides the US. I understand they probably couldn't do the exact same markdowns with different currencies, but you'd think they could just take off the same percentage of the price.

When there's money to be made? Recent example from video game world...bards tale launches on PS4 and vita...in America, its Cross buy, buy PS4 and vita as a set at same price...in the eu/U.K. ...launches a week later, pay the same price give or taker change rate, for each systems version separately. It's a decade plus old game getting re-released. We have the nickname rip off Britain for a reason xD
For trek stuff I used to use the forbidden planet exchange mechanism...it's where you exchange the dollar sign for a pound sign and call it job done. Maybe stick another number randomly in the price tag...exchange rates be damned.

When I first got my Kindle, its default setting was for the US. I couldn't figure out why the hell I was going to Amazon.ca, looking at the Canadian history books, and getting messages that they "are not available in your country."

I wrote to Amazon and asked why the hell (maybe I didn't word it quite that way, but it's what I was thinking) a Canadian couldn't order a Canadian history ebook from the Canadian Amazon site. That's how I found out that they just assume everyone's an American customer and they don't really care about inconveniencing customers from other countries.

I did finally get the book I wanted - it was cheaper to buy the physical one from a Marketplace seller.

I did some altering in the URL of the sale page, and I think I have the 1.99 sale for October!

http://www.startrekbooks.com/c/ebookpromooctober2017

If this is correct, we are getting the Myriad Universes trilogy of books for 1.99 each on October 7th. This is after the launch of Discovery, so I am not sure if this is just a bonus 1.99 sale month or if we will continue to get a trio of Trek books for 1.99 every month. Fingers are crossed for the latter!

Good sleuthing! I hope you are right and they keep these sales up. They will certaining get more of my money!

Yeah, it is. I've done that a few times and each time it was the right books.

This is the second or third batch of books I ready own, so I guess I'll just have to keep waiting and see if we get some I don't next time.

I have the first book in the series, but not the other two. Looking forward to picking them up, as I really liked the first one.

I finally remembered to go back to searching by series on Google Play.
Voyager Search Results:
Distant Shores US$0.99
Flashback US$4.99
Dark Matters Book One: Cloak and Dagger US$3.99

Enteprise Search Results:
Rosetta US$4.99
