Dying with your eyes open

I work in a morgue. People can die with their eyes open. I see the drying when they come in and it makes a black or dark brown stripe across the eye. Also, the hair and nails DON'T continue growing and no one sits up or moves after they're dead. If they did then I would definitely choose another profession.

The points about the people sleeping with their eyes open, I've seen my sister do that and it is, as everyone is saying, creepy as hell.

I believe morticians no longer 'sew' eyelids shut - though maybe Gojiragirl can confirm. The morticians I've known generally use super-glue.
