DVD Drive Won't show Disk Label or type

I've run into a problem that I can't figure out how to fix, much less find the cause. I noticed that my optical drive won't show disk label or type...Doesn't happen all the time, just when it seems like I need to do something in a hurry, like set the pc to burn a disc.

When My Computer folder is open, and I insert a DVD, the drive label doesn't refresh. It won't change to show the drive label or disk type unless I reboot with the disc in the drive. Anyone know why this may be happening, and how to correct it?

Thanks.

Try this:

ASPI Ccheck:

I've also used this fix for the problem with success:

Backup your registry!!!!!!

Start Registry Editor (Start, Run and type in regedit then click)

Find "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" (and "UpperFilters.bak" "LowerFilters.bak", if they exist) value under the following key in the registry, and delete it:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Quit Registry Editor.

Reboot.

NOTE: You might need to reinstall any CD recording apps you have, if they start to not work completely, after doing this.
