Just wondering, I did notice a print ad for the DVD at Wal*Mart. I wonder when a full campaign is coming.
I'll be damned. Four ads for Star Trek tonight!

fear not thumbtack, M'Sharak, and Clancy_sThere's faint ringing in the 2.4:1 frame during dissolves, and mild noise in soft lighting and smoke, and some instances of notable grain.
I do wish that the blacks had a little more detail
The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mix boasts room-shaking bass, and a particularly powerful kick whenever a starship jumps to warp speed.

AUDIO:Disc 1 uses 36.8GB for the movie out of 38.7GB total.
http://www.highdefdiscnews.com/?p=29870The amount of rear channel usage and LFE presence is excellent here.
It should come as no surprise that this is definite “demo material” in terms of audio presentation.
Overall the bonus materials are pretty darn impressive considering they include OVER 3 HOURS of Hi-Def supplemental material alone.
AUDIO:there are unfortunately some nitpicks resulting from the transfers such as blacks dropping detail in the fields of Iowa at dawn and other scattered backdrops.
DELETED Scenes:Trumping LFE are surrounds that run a marathon of activity from start to finish whether it be phasers popping out from all directions, control console bleeps and blips, space garbage clanging off hulls or the score and subtle ambient noise from the tight confines of a tin can in space.

The Digital Bits did their Blu-ray review.there's just a rich tapestry of background sounds layered into the mix that draw you right into the film's fictional environments. A perfect example is the firefight that erupts when Kirk and Spock beam over to the Narada - the ping and sizzle of phaser bolts zip all around you.
Crazy or not, I will be at Walmart at 12:01 AM Nov. 17th to purchase my Blu-ray copy.

One week and essentially one day to go until the US release, it's almost here; I wonder how the DVD/blu-ray sales will do here? I hope the sales are crazy, it feels really good to see Star Trek so successful.
Of course after I own the blu-ray copy I will have to wait almost two years before the next Trek film,C'est la vie !
The next movie is supposed to some out in 2011, not 2012 or 2013.
I can hardly wait for Tues...which kind of sucks because I'll have to buy the 2 disc version on Wednesday when I get paid. It'll be worth the wait though.
