Dutch translation

My sister was just booking a hotel in Amsterdam through the hotel's web-site. Most of it was translated into English, but there was a special package deal available called:

Vrijheid Blijheid

Babelfish translated this to "Freedom Gladness" - my sister reckons this sounds very North Korean and didn't want to book it even with the cheap price

What on earth does it really mean? And what do you think a hotel package called that would include?

It's a saying and basically just means that freedom equals happiness. I've no idea what it would mean in a hotel package context though.

Disclaimer: I'm not Dutch, I just live here...

Google translates it as "free and easy" (which doesn't have quite the propaganda-poster ring to it that the Babelfish rendition did) -- sounds like some sort of very basic, budget package, maybe. I'm sure one of our Dutch-speakers will be along soon to put a little local perspective on it -- they're probably waking up about now.

It's something like 'freedom happiness'. It's a saying that basically equals the two, as Sky said. And no, there is not a single clear connection with the hotel business. Maybe they picked it because it sounded nice? Your sister should ask them;)

Sky is right...
How it works in a with a hotel package?!?
No idea, was there a description?!?

No, no description, Just prices - that were quite a bit cheaper than the other offer rates.

I thought maybe it was a national advertising thing like some sort of Air Miles or a national holiday, but obviously not!
