Due South

Ok does anyone remember Due South? That was such a funny show that paired a Chicago police officer and Mountie. I have all 4 seasons on DVD! They don't make shows like that anymore!

I might have the shows recorded on VHS somewhere, but I don't have a VCR anymore.

I remember it being a really funny show.

Best TV show of the nineties. Yeah, I got them on DVD. They were shot on film y'know. No visual effects shots, all in camera. Someone should look for the original negatives for the episodes, re-edit them the way they did TNG, and release them on Blu-ray.

First season is utterly glorious, from the hysterically funny right up to the heart-wrenchingly dramatic. Brilliant stuff.

Season 2 takes a slight dip at the beginning and then a much bigger dip towards the end, but it still has this piece of utter genius (skip to 1:40):

Season 3 and 4 I couldn't get on with. Not that we lost Ray and gained "Ray" but rather the dramatic tone was almost completely jettisoned for rather juvenile humour, which was sad to see.

What's really interesting is, for all his flaws as a writer these days, the creator of the show (who left after S1 as showrunner) was Paul Haggis, of Crash infamy. Victoria's Secret still remains one of the 90's best pieces of TV thanks to that writing, shored up by great music, and the rather brilliant Paul Gross.

I adore that first season so much that it easily rests in my top 10 seasons of any TV of all time.

Yep, loved the show. Definite classic. I kind of wish they would have made a movie years later. I'm actually surprised Paul Gross isn't a more bankable actor.

Thank you kindly!
Loved this show...so 90's.
And while there was always a touch of the bizarre about it,the later seasons (with trainloads of Mounties)slipped into the ridiculous.

I loved this show growing up. But, yeah, haven't seen it in years. I agree the first season was amazing--Haggis really earned his wings there. The rest of it wasn't so great, but still a fun guilty pleasure.

That soundtrack tho...

I spent much of my junior high years trying to perfect that acoustic riff.

Great show. The 90's had tons of great shows. Funny back in the 90's people would say they didn't make shows like they used to. Now many of us are looking fondly back on the 90's.....here's the theme..great song.....makes me a bit sad..:wah:....how I miss my 20's....

Diefenbaker the lip reading half-wolf.

Greatest animal character in modern TV?

I think so

Hugo - You know, you let a wolf save your life, they make you pay and pay and pay.
