Dude; Dont go there

They''ve already gone there, twice. Once with Billy Crystal, which sucked, and once with Arnold "The Governator" Schwarzenegger , which was awesome beyond imagination.

Yes, that's a pregnant Arnold at a maternity retreat, crossdressing so that he doesn't have to explain that he's a pregnant man.

yeah but werent those mostly comedies? Id love to see a really serious treatment of it. A movie or even better a series where a man (& a heterosexual man, not a gay man who wants to have a child or guy who was once a woman)who for whatever reason unexpectedly becomes pregnant & he has to decide whether to carry the baby full term. Then it follows the progress as he gives birth & eventually raises the child...I think it would make a fascinating tv miniseries.

EDIT: also it would be a human baby, not an alien baby or parasite or whatever...

They did this I thought..MORK AND MINDY

Junior was a comedy, but one that treated the topic very seriously. It didn't gloss over emotional and ethical issues, though it did gloss over safety issues.

can you see any "theme" or "TOPIC matter" from a scifi book, or whatever, that would absolutely never get made because it would be far too controversal? Or, has our society matured (yeah right) far enough where any topic can be made into a movie with out causing social strife???

Rob

The day they make Children Of The Lens, I'll eat a teddy bear. Hollywood's never going to make a pro-incest flick.
Give it FIVE years!;) It will happen.

I just looked at this on WIKIPEDIA. And then followed the link to the book site. Apparently the aspect of incest didn't even warrent a mention at either place. Is it that important to the storyline???

So far I've seen two series on your list, Hell Girl (BRILLIANT work I thought) and Gunslinger Girl which I thought was a Sad yet slightly disturbing work. Now I have to be honost I NEVER thought that WATCHMEN would ever be made just because of the content alone, but I was proven wrong. Now if there is ONE series from comic books that I just don't see being made is ALAN MOORE & NIEL GAIMANS MIRACLEMAN. It is rather ''tame'' in the first 8 issue's, but the further the sereis went it became a very mature, sexual & ULTRA-VIOLENT series by the time MOORE left off, and allowed Gaimen to finish the as of yet incomplete series! I don't see Holyweird ever turning this book in too a movie anytime soon( legal issue's aside)

I bet they'd keep Johnny Bates getting a rock teleported into his noggin before they'd include the nativity scene. Heck, I'm not even sure which one's less gross...
Well considering they were pretty faithfull (are at least tried to be) to Watchmen, I would say if they were ''Ballsy'' enough they would show BOTH scenes in there unadulterated graphic GLORY, however sinse watchmen failed to be the BIG cash-cow everybody said it was going to be, I see them tonning down alot of the content in MIRACLEMAN in order to bring in a PG-13 thus putting more 'butts' in theater seats!:p

Myasishchev, Have you read the MASTERPIECE that is MIRACLEMAN too? are did you get all that info off of one of the many MM fan sites ''or'' from the Wiki?

well ok it has been a long time since I saw it & I dont remember much about it other than Arnold in drag. Maybe I need a rewatch. I cant even remember if the baby is born in Rabbit Test(B. Crystal film.)

it's more subtext, but it's definitely there.

Hollywood has made films with incest subtext. In fact Cat People (the 1980s remake) went further than subtext. There was no actual consummation, but incest was a pretty major theme and there was an attempted incestuous seduction/rape scene.

i just saw CAT PEOPLE a month ago. CINMAX had it on there HD channel, which made some of those scenes more...mmmmm....clear.

It it is a good movie, but seems dated. hasn't aged well. But overall, I still like it.

^^^
I only saw it recently, too. It's not great, but enjoyable enough. Nastassja Kinski and Annette O'Toole are both drop dead gorgeous in it.

Putting it delicately as possible...Kinski gave a new definition to the word bush...if you know what I mean. Yikes...I guess that was a fad back then.
The au naturale look was standard in the 70s and 80s (and prior I guess, but full frontal nudity became more prevalent from the 70s onwards). Nastassja Kinski's bush is actually quite tame compared to some others, such as Maria Schneider in The Last Tango in Paris.

No, I've read it. Great comic.
Indeed! I love the ''what if'' superman was real aspect of this series! To bad the general john Q public may NEVER get a chance to read this MASTERPIECE!:(
Thanks to the asinine legal wrangling over it. I thought that finally got settled, but I might be wrong.

The real tragedy is that it's not finished. It just hangs
with Young MM punching MM in the face and crying about his homoness, and flying off. I was always wondering how Gaiman would follow that up; not, presumably, with Dicky turning into another Johnny, but maybe the voice and muscle of conservatism/flawed humanity set against the "gods."

for those who said back on pasge 1 "the moon is a harsh mistress" they made a movie of it back in the late 80's/early 90's

and when I was 12 I wrote a story about two lesbian witches who were burned at the stake in a small northwestern Florida community, thier souls entered the pastor/mayor/sherriff's preteen twin daughters bodies & they go on to seduce everyone around them as revenge...I doubt that would ever be turned into a movie

No, you're mistaken. It's been developed as a movie, but it's never actually been made.

Make the twin daughters older and Hollywood would make that as a low budget horror movie.

Further, it sounds like a fantastic idea for a porno. Then again, there are good reasons for not wasting fantastic ideas for pornos on pornos.
