Very briefly.
Bummer, that means I should at least read the destiny series before reading this one. I don't even know what the Typhon Pact really is, who's involved or how it formed so I'm thinking I need to get caught up before I dig into this one. I was looking forward to trying to stay current with everyone but I'm going to have to do some more catch up before I'm ready unfortunately.
Well, no, you don't need to read those earlier books first, unless you really want to avoid being spoiled about them. The things I referenced are mostly minor as far as DTI:WTC is concerned, though the outcome of Destiny has some significance to its story. But virtually every story ever written references things that happened before it but were not shown, and it works because you learn about them as you read. If you already intend to read those specific books eventually and you don't want to know anything about their outcomes, then sure, read them first. But if your only concern is understanding WTC, it shouldn't be an issue.

If you're referring to Clare Raymond and the Bozeman, I already confirmed the former in my recent "radio" interview. And the latter will be seen in some capacity, though not quite as I originally contemplated.

With no italics though. So it's rather unreadable (IMHO).
I don't care. I find a lot of italics hard to read. Though they were certainly useful in some parts of The Tears of Eridanus...
I cannot say there if there are long passages with italics or not as I've not looked. But still, they do help when dealing with communications and ship names.
A good point. Well, the italicized passages weren't long, but as some characters were communicating telepathically italics did make it easier to follow. Trying not to give too much away here.
